Forbes magazine rates Chicago the third most-stressful city in America, second only to Los Angeles and New York. That’s not a list in which you want to be in the top three, right? We share the title of the worst traffic congestion in the country with Washington, D.C., because – on average, we spend 70 hours a year in bottlenecks and un-smooth sailing on the roads. Our unemployment rate is over 10 percent, and we’re the fourth most densely packed city in the United States. OK. Take a breather. So where and when do we get to relax in the Chicagoland area?
While none of the conditions I mentioned above will change overnight, there is something you can do to create a relaxing space within your own home each and every day: design a master suite that’s uniquely yours. In this blog, I want to address the basics of how to design a master suite in Oak Brook, IL or any other suburb in the Chicago area. I’m not going to talk about color palettes, fabrics, accessories or other selections; I’ll leave that to the interior designers. I’m approaching this topic from the perspective of what I’ve successfully built and renovated as part of a collaborative effort for clients in the suburban Chicagoland area.
